The protection of the consumer's interest is at the center of the work of the Water Regulatory Entity. According to the provisions of Law 8102, as amended, ERRU is tasked with protecting consumers from monopoly prices and finding a fair balance between their interests and those of operators in the water supply sector.
ERRU also acts in such a way as to guarantee that the licensees act in accordance with the conditions of their license and in this way to protect the consumers in relation to the quality, efficiency, continuity and guarantee of the service.
ERRU interprets consumer protection as a duty to take any regulatory decision in the long-term interest and for the good of society as a whole.
In order to better perform its functions in consumer protection, ERRU has approved the following documents:
Model Contract for Water Supply and Sewerage Services
Regulations for the organization of the hearing with the public in the process of approving tariffs
